Content and benefits:

 By now most people own a mobile device. But are people really getting the most from their devices? What is a good user experience for mobile platforms? Do people use their mobile devices different then then desktop computers and systems? The tutorial will teach you how to design for mobile platforms. Attendees will learn design methods that will include design thinking and innovation specifically tailored for the mobile experience which includes both software apps and hardware devices.

Participants will gain understanding, knowledge and skills for user experience research and design for mobile devices. Participants will have the opportunity to start a mobile app design during the workshop and take away skills to complete the project on their own.

 

Target Audience:

Professional executives, designers, developers and anyone who want to learn about user experience design and research for mobile platforms. This includes:

  • Marketing professionals
  • Program and product managers
  • Developers
  • UI designers
  • UX professionals who want to strengthen their skill set
  • Anyone interested in design or research for mobile platforms

 

Additional Platform to be used:

I will be using powerpoint slides. Internet connection will be needed.

 

List of materials or devices required by the participants:

They should bring their laptop and be ready to use it to for the course.

Bio Sketch of Presenter:

Elizabeth Rosenzweig is a Principal Usability at Bubble Mountain Consulting and an Adjunct Faculty in the Bentley University; Human Factors and Information Design Master’s degree program, Elizabeth has worked as a consultant and employee in several major corporations for over 30 years. Her experience includes design, research and development, ranging from website and, applications, to hardware products and technology development. Elizabeth has completed projects for many major international corporations, not for profit and government organizations as well as academic institutions. Elizabeth holds 4 patents in intelligent user interface design and is the author of the book “Successful User Experience” Strategies and Roadmaps” published by Morgan Kaufmann. She frequently publishes in industry journals, has written chapters in 4 published books and presents lectures at conferences around the world.

Elizabeth is Past President of the Usability Professionals Association and founder and Director of World Usability Day, which she started in 2004 after her term as President of Usability Professionals Association was completed. World usability Day has grown to include 44 countries with over 180 events.

Elizabeth holds a BA in Fine Art Photography and Printing Technologies from Goddard College and a Master of Science in Visual Studies (User Interface Design and Computer Output) from the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
